Hello, goose, and welcome to Offerings to the Sturgeon Moon! As a Moon-obsessor-over-er, this mini issue has been one of my personal favorites to work on; the pieces were so poignant and stunning that it made reading through the incredible submissions sent our way extra enjoyable. I’m so glad we took the leap and created this themed issue in Her honor. 

I often feel myself most drawn to our beloved Miss Moon when I recognize growth and change and transition in my life or the circumstances that make it up. I track time and cycles through Moon phases, I create goals as opposed to Her repeated shapes, and I blame Her — holy flock, do I blame Her. 

Silly Goose Press doesn’t get spared, either. The mag has grown an extraordinary amount since we published our first issue in April of 2024: we’ve gone from four friends to a flock of about 20 who help keep our pond clean, we participate in and host literary events throughout the year, and we’re seeing more submissions than ever before (in fact, we received over 300 submissions to this very mini, which is WAY more subs than any of our previous minis!). We’re changing, flockers! We’re growing and transitioning and spreading our wings, and the Moon has been there to fly with us, every flap of the way. 

I hope you enjoy this magical collection of moon-favoring follies, folklores, and fantasies, and I wish you all strength, power, and resilience as we cycle through this awe-some Sturgeon Moon.
