Interested in Joining the Pond?

Check out our Open Positions Below!

First thing’s first: All positions with Silly Goose Press are volunteer-only. We know everyone has bills to pay, so we want to be upfront that these are unpaid (for now!).

Since we’re still in our lit-mag infancy, we aren’t able to pay any of our staff members at this time. But all staff receive a free membership forSilly Goose Salons for the duration of their time working with us! And if we can help get you internship credit for a school program, we’ll do whatever we can.

Content & Social Media Intern

WHAT WE NEED:

We’re in search of a creative who can help bring goose to life with colorful, on-brand visual and written content! From our Instagram posts to our merch to the PDF versions of each issue, Silly Goose Press needs a lot of graphic design. We are more creative with our words than we are with our graphics, and that, dear reader, is where you come in!

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Lead social media content strategy to create a social calendar for the rest of 2026, working closely with our EIC and Managing Editor

  • Write engaging social captions (sometimes from the perspective of Sir Goosington III himself!)

  • Design social media graphics for issue announcements, upcoming events, blurbs of published pieces, or holidays

  • Create designs we can print onto cool Goose merch

  • Recommend design direction for issue PDFs, themed mini-issues, newsletters, and other collateral

  • Help with community management by engaging with the audience and flagging any important comments/messages

YOU’RE A FIT IF YOU:

  • Spend your free time playing around on Canva (or Adobe Express, or Figma, or any other design app of choice)

  • Have experience creating content for Instagram, Bluesky, TikTok, websites, or digital publications

  • Are studying or are interested in graphic design or other visual arts

  • Have 5-10 hours a week to spare!

TO APPLY, PLEASE SHARE:

  • A cover letter telling us a bit about yourself and why you’d like to join us at the pond

  • A portfolio of any social media graphics/design samples so we can take a gander (see what we did there?)

  • A short writing sample (500 words to show us that you’ve got a handle on your words)

Editorial Operations Assistant

WHAT WE NEED:

We’re in search of an organized creative who can help manage the day-to-day to-dos! Ever wonder what goes on behind the covers of a lit mag? Hint: it’s a lot! Mostly making lists and ticking boxes but lots of other dopamine-inducing activities. Go backstage at Silly Goose Press as our Editorial Operations Assistant!

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Work closely with our Managing Editor on magazine operations (think: building templates, scheduling, organizing, and everything that helps us run smoothly)

  • Update our Silly Goose Press website on the backend! (Some web experience is preferred, but not required; you can learn on the job!)

  • Document our processes and help make them more efficient

  • Organize our document and asset-management systems (Canva and Google Drive), so it’s easy for everyone to find what they need

  • Help plan fun, virtual literary events, join team brainstorming, and more

YOU’RE A FIT IF YOU:

  • Love processes and procedures! Color-coded spreadsheets scratch an itch in your brain and you’re always uncovering ways to run things more smoothly

  • You’re interested in literary mag management or curious about dipping a toe into the lit mag world

  • Have 5-10 hours per week to spare!

TO APPLY, PLEASE SHARE:

  • A cover letter explaining why you’d like to join the flock
