This year’s theme is Pride Out Loud! Send us your queer joy and gay wonders — we’re looking for craft-forward whimsy (as usual) and this time, we’re also looking for your voice! Submissions will be accepted through submittable. Please send us your most polished pieces, as you would to any other mag, and should your work be accepted, we’ll follow up with audio recording instructions. We’re looking for work of all genres: CNF, Fiction, Poetry, Hybrid, Flash, Art, Photography, and anything else you can think of!

When submissions are open:

  • submit your work to our submittable as a Word Doc, and use standard formatting (ie, 12 pt font, 1 inch margins, some sort of serif/sans serif-esq font, etc.)

  • please send in only one submission per genre

    • POETRY:

      • Submit up to 3 poems

    • FICTION:

      • Submit up to 1200 words

        • Feel free to submit a few flash or micro pieces, but please keep the total word count to 1200 or less!

    • CREATIVE NONFICTION:

      • Submit up to 1200 words

        • Feel free to submit a few flash or micro pieces, but please keep the total word count to 1200 or less!

    • HYBRID:

      • get funky with it but keep it mini! 1200 words max, and up to 5 files

    • ART + PHOTOGRAPHY:

      • submit up to five images per submission, highest quality as possible

        • please know that for this issue (and upon acceptance), we will ask you to provide an audio recording of your artists statement!

  • for more information on what our editors typically look for, check out our regular guidelines here

  • you can submit work to multiple genres, just make sure to submit them through the proper submittable channels!

  • do not send us previously published work (this includes pieces featured on your social media/personal blogs/etc.)

  • simultaneous subs are allowed (and encouraged! get those pubs, goose!) but let us know ASAP if you need to pull a piece through submittable!

  • our lit mag cannot accept work from minors! You must be 18+ to submit to silly goose press!

  • we typically keep our issues PG-13

    • for art/photography, we do not take nudity or sexually explicit images

    • for other genres, we do not take explicit sex scenes, illusions to sex are okay

    • violence, gore, or other sensitive themes are considered on a case-by-case basis
