Lorelei
Still, it’s you,
and I must step into the lake,
for your tender warmth
turned torturous heat and my
sundered breath must ease to
end this sleepless night
I must step into the lake,
where the moonlit swells hold
your footsteps like wet sand
and laughter carries over the water,
still,
I must step into the lake,
to draw from the cool sustenance
and un-split those parched lips
that give every word a jagged
edge, and I dare not sing so
I must give in to the lake,
and break
that glistening skin
beckons
Hark!
A rustle shudders through the reeds:
Here's another.
