Queer Joy

Queer Joy
Claire Benzadón

is crushing on
your coworker

and never deliberately
letting her know–whispersigh.

It’s sitting open-
legged with pants

baggy, boots strapped.
Queer delight is your sex

drive, wild and whetted
appetite. It’s holding

hands with a woman
who makes your heart

bone, your smile thrust.
Queer jubilee is

the opposite of mimicking
giggles; it’s loving loudly, un-

apologetically, or-
gasming openly,

in sync
with your

best friend.
