Perhaps Too Tiny

on mobile? turn phone sideways!

    the tiny duck

               on the surface of

the lake looks like a miracl

                    e about which I

must remember to tell a scientist

                   the tiny duck

               on the surface of

    the lake floats about wher

                  ever the wind ta

kes it // with the exact sort of viv

acious fervor and stoic certainty that

                             could inspire a generation

                   the tiny duck

               on the surface of

the lake shines just as br

                  ightly as its irri

                         descent reflection // radiating aro

und ripples // wing patch like waste fro

                           m a nuclear reactor // never squandered

                   the tiny duck

               on the surface of

    the lake quacks silently //

                  never fishes //

never bobs  for Pete’s sake // no

r for anyone else’s // just blinks its eye

s which are too small to see // just big eno

ugh // to catch the eye

                   the tiny duck

               on the surface of

    the lake drifts closer and

                 turns out to be

                         a leaf
